my cage in construction(now theres pics)

well i finished the main part of comstruction today.. the inside measurements are 48 x 25 x 25.. i made it highes cause im goin to be constructing a cage like this http://708designs.netfirms.com/custo...customcage.htm
so the extra hight will come in handy.. ill be useing ( inside the cage) 2 ceremic elements ( 1 for bulb 1 for ceremic heater, its cold in my room) both on dimmers and 1 doul 36" strip light... there is sliding doors and such, ill get pics up tomorrow...

my question is how much ventilation.. would 2 of thoes 3" circular vents (one on each side) be enough or maybe 2 rectulangur regester vents.. whats your take.. thanks alot.. ill get pics up tomorrow after paint..

oh and one idea i had is a removeable pool (water dish) that sits almost 1/2" outta the ground.. recessed in.. and food dish as well... that way its cleanable but looks like it belongs..

sounds really good, I'd use 2 vents but made like Clay Davenport does on his cages seen here http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/dcage04.shtml

I figure if you placed them right they look almost like "cave openings" in the walls..

I've used this type of venting on my cages and find they are great. I've replaced the screen with hardware cloth (1/4 inch) on some as my "cute and fuzzies" (cats and dogs) tore the screening (aluminum and fibreglass).

cool.. i was thinking that but im limited with tools.. so id be able to do it but make it look good is another thing.. and ill be useing grout to form a rock wall so id have to be very careful not to mess up the screen... thats why i was thinking thoes vents.. cut the hole decorate and install vent.. easy..

thanks alot though.. i might end up doing that.. maby attach the screen on the outside..

you could cover the screen in plastic and just cut the plastic out once the grout is dry, as a bit of "extra grout" overlapping the vent edges will add to the overall effect, like they "belong" there.. just a suggestion.. (and what I'm going to do when I do this on my next cage)

i have the option on getting a one light fixture and a 2 light.. i was thinking 2 but i have heard of overdoses, i dont know if lights did this or powder... but either way it will be mounted inside the cage along with 2 ceremic light fixtures..
and here is my response...

1 will do, but if you want to use the one with 2 you can. I wouldn't suggest using 2 5.0 bulbs, but you can use one 5.0 and a 2.0 even though it's more money for 2.

For my beardies i don't use 2 but for my chameleon i do. I use it the way above one of them is a 5.0 and the other is a plant light that is 2.0.

what do you guys think.. i think jamie has a good idea but would just like to here other opinions..

ewwwww i got one rock shaped out and all tell ya.. it looks good.. im want to have it done and heated before the show.. that way its ready when the time comes...

has anyone thought of housing a small beardie in this size enclosure and just transfering when its feeding time to a smaller one.. ill prob just place the 10 gal on top of it for now with the needed lights.. or maybe inside so i dont need more uv lights..
