enlarged pupil ?

hey ya'll...the other day i noticed my bcc had one pupil that was not dilating. Her eyes were always fine before. Both eyes are perfectly clear and equal in shape and size aside from the one pupil being larger than the other...does anyone know what might cause this?

It's totally 100% a guess, but maybe it is blind in one eye. Possibly born that way or maybe from a retained spectacle (shed). It's the only thing I could think of. Hopefully this is not the case though.

her sheds are mostly good...when she has had a troubled shed, I simply put her in a closed off rubbermaid to soak for awhile and that removed any remaining shed. I'm worried about this, I really don't know what may have caused this.

I don't know, but the first thing that comes to mind is possibly something happening in the brain Brain injury/disease often impacts one or both eyes. Sorry I cannot be of more help

I thought of that as well Linds, but there is no reason for this to be. She has had no trauma to her head (or any part of the body for that matter) nor has she been exposed to any harmful products that might cause damage. Her behaviour is normal as well so I'm hoping that her brain is still intact. I'm truly puzzled and concerned about this.

hey Jon,
she's doing fine...as in....behaviour is normal but her pupil is still not dilating...actually, upon closer inspection it slightly bulges more than the other...very slightly. I haven't been able to find any more information on this condition.

Could be an infection behind the eye, which could cause some swelling as well as non dilating. All depends on what is actually infected. Just some thoughts. Good luck, do you know any good herp vets in youre area?

Dave

should've replied to this before I went away...but I was too excited (Mardi Gras!!!!).....here's the update..
I took the boa to the vet the following day and her eye was almost back to normal..the vet looked in and did not see any blood or abnormalities...pupil responded to movement and was not sensitive to the touch ...I'm thinking she bonked her head on something when striking and it swelled a little....her eye is fine nowYippie!!!!
