Hey everyone, I have been using Netscape as my internet browser lately as Explorer was acting up.. Anyone know how I can permanently delete internet explorer?? It still brings up annoying popups even though I dont use it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Well for one, IE isn't making the annoying pop ups, it's just spyware which used IE to get on your comp and is now using it to pop them up. You'll have to remove that entirely as well.
Anyways remove that and you shouldn't have problems with IE. IE is heavily intergrated into windows. But if you are using WindowsXP service pack 1 or greater, than you can disable it all together.

I would definitely recommend downloading anti-spyware software. Heck, download 3! I've found that once I run the first anti-spyware software it deletes most of the spyware, running the second gets rid of the ones the first one missed and the third one to do the same. The three I use are :
Spybot
Ad-aware
Spywareblaster
Good luck. They are a pain in the arse.

Hey, I have Ad-Aware, CWshredder and Spy Subtract.. These do a good job I think, I also have Norton which is able to detect viruses but every time I do a scan and go to delete them, it said "delete failed" beside every single virus it's discovered..

You might try uninstalling any extra bars you've added to IE. Search bars, smily bars, etc. Sometimes you can't get rid of the spyware without removing those gator bars.

The worst part about spyware/ adwares is that instead of a few rouge individuals just doing things for kicks, as in the ussual case for viruses, These are entire corperations devoted to making sure you get thier pop-ups and log your browsing habits. Its sleazy marketing gone into overkill mode. Even more rediculouse is how some of the pop-ups are now advertising for some half-wit, 2-bit "security and ad removal" software no ones heard of... "only $35.95 (US)" after the free scan shows a bunch of crap. Its forged an unholy alliance with arse-faces who just wanna make a quick buck.
Snakers55, ad aware is good, as is the shredder, also get 'spybot search and destroy' http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html its free to download, was developed honestly and works great! you'll be suprised what it finds
The one that i will swear by over all the rest is "Hijack This" it scans your registry editor, howver if you use it incorrectly it can dammage your good programs too.

Snakers,
There are some ppl at this site that help you out with any problem you are having. I downloaded a thing called Hijack this, sent them the results, and they told me everything that was wrong and how to deal with it.
