Breeding veilds

Ive already got a male, who is doing very well Im happy for that. So this female veiled cham caught my eye at work. Shes the exact same size as my male, not ready for breeding im sure, but I was really considering breeding them, just for the experience, not to make money (which isnt possible im sure)

Would this be a fun, not easy but possible, project? Is their a chance the the female would NEVER take to the male or vise versa, just so I dont buy her for no reason. I would really love to breed chams, but how difficult is it? Are there any good sites or books that have chameleon breeding detailed and trustworthy?

Thanks for any info!

Adam,
I am told they breed rather easily and a person like you could do it for sure Make sure you would have lots of feeders available to feed the babyies b/c you can get a heck of alot of them

Breeding Chams is not difficult in my opinion. The one thing you want to think about is can you care for a large clutch of babies? Think about buying 1000+ crickets each week until they are big enough to sell. Then comes the part of making the money back that you put into raising them. In Canada you are talking about alot of money. The going rate from what I remember at the last show was like $60-$80 each. Wholesale runs about $30. The ones that don't sell fast eat more and more.

You might be better off trying to work with Panthers. They are still going for alittle more.

See, I dont want to pludge into a whole project, just thought id pair up my guy and let him do his thing If its to much, then I wouldnt do it. 1000 crix a week is forsure way to much for me now, but maybe when im done paying for this damn trip in march hehe. Maybe ill try to pair him up then, I just hope the female lasts till then (doesnt get sold)

Id whole sell them if anything, im not really looking to make any money or try to even cover costs, just want to have the experience and joy of hatching out little chams.

Veiled Clutches range from 30 - 80 + eggs. I spoke with a person who's cham laid a clutch of 102. I had a clutch of 50 - all of them hatched. I was buying 2000+ crickets a week to feed them.
