free to a good home

I realize this is likely not the place to do this, but there are so many animal lovers on this site I thought it was my best chance.

A coworker on my floor has a neighbor who owns a healthy 4 year old golden retriever. The dog, having NEVER misbehaved in the past, made a snap at the owners 5 year old child who was holding some food. There were no resulting injuries, as the dog never made contact with the child or the food. The owner has decided to give the dog away to another home, or else put it down. Currently the dog is in a kennel awaiting relocation....or euthanasia. Please PM me if you can provide a good home for this dog...the owner will be putting the dog down SOON...so please respond quickly if you can and by Monday I will try to get the necessary contact info for you.

Thanks to everyone for any help saving this dog!

oh....I forgot to mention that the dog is from an Edmonton family, so if you live in Edmonton or nearby that would be best!

Aww....poor dog. Losing his family, that's so sad. Maybe you should consider charging an adoption fee, though. For the safety of the dog.

well....it's not my dog and so not my decision to make. I am just trying to help in finding an alternative to euthanizing this dog.

i know....your trying to help. but really, what can become of 'free to good home' dogs is sometimes way worse than euthanasia. please think about it.

part of the reason I posted here (and no where else) is that from what I have seen at this site, everyone is an animal lover and I highly doubt that someone who visits this site wishes any ill to any animals...herps or otherwise. I am not randomly advertising for the reasons you listed specifically.

It;s to bad about the dog. it's probably something that may never happen again or maybe the next time the dog might tear the kids face off. What parent wants to take that chance? Now you want to find a new home for it. A noble gesture on your part , I just hope his new home doesn't have kids.

Really, euthanasia resulting from what you have described, is unwarranted. Too many holes there to justify "killing" a dog for that.

Ask these people to check out ANY Golden rescue clubs if you will, so the dog can be with someone who understands dog behaviour and can be a better owner. From what you described, this is not an outward "aggressive" act, just a dog being a dog.

I sure hope that this dog finds a great place to live.

thanks for the recommendation bcbob...I had no idea that such resucue clubs existed and I will definately look into it and forward that information. I agree that the punishment seems a little harsh and this is why I am trying to help. If after 4 years this is the first offence for this dog, I see no reason for euthanasia....thanks again for the help.

I wish I could take doggie but I live in Ontario with enough doggies already, anyway it is a noble thing to help the poor dog as much as I like reptiles I love dogs.
