I'm going to start building a rack system for neo and yearling boas and JCP's. I was thinking something that can hold a combination of 12qt and 27qt tubs that I can build myself.

How old or what size do you think I can keep any hold backs in 27qt tubs? Feeding schedule would be once every 7 days. I figure 12 qt tubs would be good from neo to 10 months. 27qt good for 10 months to 18 months.

Last night I found some plans and modified it to hold 18 = 27qt or 36 = 12qt tubs or a mixture of both sizes since these are the same height. The 27 qt is 16" wide, the 12qt is 16" long. Cost should be about $200 - $250 w/ heating and tubs.

At the moment I plan on 6 = 27qt tubs and 24 = 12 qt tubs.

I also found a nice design that can hold 10 = 48qt tubs.

I will substitue the 36" shelves for a 48" width. This will allow me to house 2 = 27qt tubs in one row, when needed. The 36" shelves only allows for one 27" tub and enough space for one 12qt. With 48" you can house 4 = 12qt or 2 = 27qt or 1 = 27qt and 2= 12qt in one row. I'll make a few more adjustments for durability as well, extra steps to ensure durability.

For adult BP's I would stick with the 27qt's or the 48qts. I'm using this rack for next years newborns as well as some hold backs and young snakes I've purchased.

Did you ever get to build your rack?

I started building this simple rack for under $200.00 this morning.
Still need to add 4" flexwatt for belly heat and backing, cost will still come in close to $200 with tubs. This rack can hold 21 = 12qt or 14 = 27qt tubs or a mixture of both. Everything can be found in your local hardware store except for maybe the flexwatt. It took me about 2 hrs to build.

Looking at that rack, I don't think that it will be suitable for BP's. I may be wrong, but how do you plan to run the flexwatt?

Thanks, I originally planned to do it w/out lids, but decided to leave the lids on for added security for that escape artist that always finds a way out. I also wanted to be able to take out the tubs w/lids on for safety, as well as I didn't want the humidity from the water bowl or tub evaporating an possibly damage the rack itself. I'll also raise it off the ground on some wheels.

I just need a few accesories and finishing touches. Final cost will come in at a little over $315 with a proportional thermostat from Big Apple. In a few months, I'll build another one.

Belly heat...3" or 4" Flexwatt. I'll probably go with the 3".

I'm not using this racks for BP's, this is for some baby & yearling/holdback Boas & JCP's I'm expecting in 05.

For adult BP's, I would go with the 27qt or better yet the 48qt for the females depending on size.

That is one of the most amazing "clean" set ups I have ever seen.

You are truely an example of how most of us either "should" be set up or "wish" we were.

Thanks Shawn, our snakes depend on us 100% for housing, food, health, etc. I know my pets give me so much, it's only right I give and treat them the best I possibly can within my budget. I don't think you need to spend $400 on a name brand cage in order to provide your snake with a good clean home.

Belly heat 3" or 4" Flexwatt , make sure you hook it up to a good thermostat. Still not sure between the 3" or 4", spring and summers here in FL raise the temps into the 80'- mid 80's. I won't need to worry about heat these till next fall.

well in my room it isnt hot or cold just room tempeture so i will but it in a heat stat!i am just unsure about making sure that the temp is the same at the top and the bottom!any idea on how to do that?
