so how long until she gives birth? rat question

well, finally. my rats are mating. my hairless female is obviously pregnant. i just noticed today that she is expanding compared to the other female in the cage with her. Approximately, how long before birth? this is my first time breeding them and i'm excited and nervous at the same time. thanks.

Well, that depends on her! lol Once they start to show (or I notice they're showing), I find they drop their littler within the next few days (3-5). But I don't know when yours bred or ovulated so I can't say how long.

Just listen for all the little squeaks!

be sure to feed your hairless girl a little more in proteinie that you would a furred rat, hairless rats seem to have a higher metabolisim.

I would also consider giving the babies to a different nursing mom if you can, hairless' are also notorious for poor milk production and eating their offspring.
