mini mealworms
I have seen references to mini mealworms used in the states. They are supposed to be more active and smaller then the regular mealworm. Very good for s'lings and small reptiles. are they available in Canada yet?

I have some worms in my cricket keeper that look an awful lot like little mealworms and no not just baby ones, they turn into small beetles and only get around 2.5-3 cm long. Are those what you are refering to?
I was wondering about using them to feed to my baby leos. Anyone have any info about this??

i have about 300 of them lol... just ask for the small mealies not king worms.... i get mine for like $1.50 for 100...

Not sure exactly what Karmeleon imeans but I was talking about these really tiny worms. they morph into beetles liek regulars but was smaller. I don't use regulars, they are too chitinous and you need them freshly molted and who has enough in that condition when you need them? King mealies aren't so hard bodied so I don't worry about it so much.
I was hoping that someone had an idea about the ones I asked about

Reptyle, are you asking about feeding the beetles to your leos? If so I would imagine they're shells would be too hard for them to digest. As far as what the worms are, the small mealies availible at my local pet store, are just under an inch. Don't know if that is what you are refering to?

Mini Mealworms...
Karmeleon,
Are you referring to "mini mealworms," as in http://www.minimealworms.com ?
They're advertised in the REPTILES magazine. They say they're "more active than crickets and more nutritious"
Their latin name is Tenebrio Obscurus according to the ad.

Yes mattaldo I have typical mealworms but the add for the mini ones makes them sound useful.

I got some accidentally as well the other day when I asked for "Mealworms"
They seem to be basically the same as mealworms just half the size. I haven't really noticed them being any more active though, but then again I haven't really been looking. Though it seems like they'd be good for baby leos yeah.

They are commonly referred to as lesseer mealworms and can be great for slings and baby pictus geckos

I'm trying to breed them but the beetles umm arnt very active...any ideas? Looks like there trying to kill them shelfs or something lol
