I'm asking cause obviously their are experienced people that know more about boas than I do, I want to know what would be my best bet for a male, I know if I breed her w/ a guy, I'm gonna get a guy, that's nothing new, but I wanna try to get a different coloration, I guess you can say morph (I could be wrong).
Like for example what would my guy and a pastel have? or an albino? how would the babies look like? Do you understand me now?

If you bred your boa with a Albino, then you would get all normals het for albino. You would then raise those babies up and breed them back to the orginal Albino male. Half the babies would carry the albino gene.

Her female is a Guyan BCC, as far as I know the only albinos are BCI. Boachic if you want to breed a morph your best bet would be to get a Colombian female and then a morph male. There's tons of morphs to choose from. That would be better then a cross. If you want to breed your female then just go with a male Guyan.

If you want color, go with a salmon and get approx. half the litter containing salmons, a pastel would also give you nice colorful litters.

The other option, you would not have any problems selling pure Guyanese!

BOACHIC:

You state early in the breeding game so I am not sure if you breed boas before of you mean this season in general. But lets say its your first project and this Guyana Redtail Boa needs a mate. Your best bet is getting for mating or better looking male for breeding for solid lines, color, patterns, weird mutations in pattern and so on. Redtails are not as simple as Commons but can be done so you are under taking a very new project only done by a few in Canada, so that is something to be very excited about.......goodluck.

As in crossing this Guyana Redtail Boa as mentioned above by others it will be mostly with Colombian morphs, again this is complex and has been done in the past. There are alot of US breeder trying this and its a debate on weither it is a good thing at all because of the "mut making". If this is your choice and you have a successful litter please remember in selling the young you should let the customer know it will be a cross mixture.

Hope that helps out.

Cya...

Tony

I would strongly reconsider trying to go with something 'different' if I were you. Bcc bloodlines are still relatively clean in Canada, why do you want to further contribute to the contamination of bloodlines? Down the road those little baby boas may get sold as being either Bci or Bcc and incorporated into someone elses breeding program for pure animals, and they would have no way of knowing, then out into the world go a bunch more crossbreeds being sold as pure. Due to crossbreeding, now many species and subspecies are no longer pure, such as Indian Pythons, Burmese, and Hog Isles are nearing that point. If everyone continues to hybridize, one day perhaps all the Bcc will contain a portion of other Bc blood. If none of that is of any concern to you, then you may look at it from a different perspective in that you have a MUCH smaller market for people willing to buy hybrids, and they will be at a decreased value. Here's a few threads that may be of interest.

Hmmmm, ok I see all your point. WOW, I opened a whole can of worms here. I'm actually just looking for color, color is what attracts me. All of you have to understand this is my very first boa, she's just 28", she was a gift, I got here in august, so I had to do research on boas casue I had NO clue how to maintain them, actually I'm pretty proud of myself cause she's doing great, but I do want to get a male for her in the future, but I was thinking of more color, she has this beautiful ruby red tail, I just want to add more color. I never meant to upset anyone, I'm sorry if I did. I was either considering another male guy or the red group pastels from EBV.
Thanks all for your opinions, I appreciate it.

You didn't upset anyone. People are just very passionate about this subject.

As for another normal male, or anything else, it's really up to you. For making better color and pattern, you should simply pick the best boa you can find that suits your own eye. Everyone likes something different about boas, some like clean boas with little speckles, some like RED tails while others like orange.

I would pick a mate that complements your female and has characteristics that you find pleasing to the eye. I do not keep boas, so my opinion here is not worth much, but the above guidlines really go for any species.

You should pick up a copy of the Boa Constrictor Manual it will teach you lots about all the different types and about how to care for them.
Cheers,
Trevor

The EBV's red group are all bc imperator while your female is bc constrictor The red group does have some nice color, but it will not compare to the color your bcc will eventually get. Bci tails are usually orange or brown, so you are not going to do the future litter any justice by crossbreeding. Grab a male Guyanan bcc to pair with your female and produce more babies with that blood red tail and purple/pink coloration
