Not going to go into the live debate here. I just hope that you keep an eye on her when you feed her and the rat doesn't take too many chunks out of her. I got a rescue that was gnawed on by a rat and it took months to get him healed up. The resulting scars always make me frown though.

For $30 it's probably a farmed import. I'd take a fecal in to a vet if I were you. And good luck with the live feedings, I hope your BP doesn't get horribly mangled like so many others do.

Sorry if I seemed harsh in my other post but I just wanted to point out that there are some serious considerations to feeding live. The vet suggestion is important to consider as well. I didn't mention it but Invictus hit the nail on the head as usual.
If you had to work with the BP that I had to work with just to bring hiim back to health then you might be a little sensitive to the issue of live feeding too.

Why not a get a gram scale? Measuring wieght is an important part of basic husbantry, especially when you have an animal that has the potencial of fasting for long periods of time. It is a good idea to monitor wieght gain/loss. Plus its fun to!
Please be careful feeding live. You will not like the outcome nor the vet bills if the rat connects. What would be worse is to see the scar as a constant reminder that could have been avoided at an early stage. Just watch the rat like a hawk everytime you feed.

dont wori i dont just leave the rat in the cage. i usually hold it with a tong and i make sure that the rat couldnt fight back. i usually stun the rat before offering it. i just dont want to waste rats. im taking every precaution to keep my bp in good health. i bought my bp from a local breeder so he told me that anything happens to it he will help me. he's also offering help on my bp that is not eating right now. my male is not eating for 3 weeks so i just keep on trying to feed him every week.

I'm glad to read that you take those precautions. If you take that good care with your BP then I'm sure that she will have a long and happy life. Having someone willing to help you wiith any questions is always a plus.

I member when I first got my male in early Feb 2000, as a juvi, he refused to feed for 4 months. That *******, lol. After reading bout them shutting down on food, my first ball refused. What a way when just gettin back into herps.
Good thing I learned, coming from a person born with zilch patience, these guys not only teach you the meaning of patience they demand it! LOL!
Good luck with your new BP man.
