I've never been a great sleeper, so I generally can do fine on very little. LOL... when I was like 2 years old I used to tell my parents I didn't know how to sleep. I seriously thought it was an aquired skill I'm lucky if I can sleep for more than an hour straight. For the past 6 years or so I've also suffered from nightmares, which certainly doesn't help!

I cant do it anymore. I need 6 minimum every night these days. My best were:
40 hours with no sleep, and partying the whole time. At the end of it we were eating coffee crystals by the spoonfull, and chasing that with homebrew. Not sure which was worse...the instant coffee or the homebrew. Actually fell asleep walking home.
4 exams in 3 days...slept 7 hours combined in 3 nights. Literally moved in to the computer lab at university. Slept under the desk, and brought tea, electric kettle, and a bag of croissants with me to live off of.
Not quite the same thing, but in grad school for a while I switched to longer day lengths. After my courses were done and I was just working on a thesis, (at Queens BTW), I started working 20 -24 hours straight (with time out for Ultimate), and then sleeping for 10-12 hours. That was really weird because I got used to getting out of bed in all sorts of light conditions...mid-day...pitch black etc.

I can go 2 days, without sleep and be fine. after that I can keep going if I’m doing something but if I’m just sitting around I get really tired really fast.
I also have never been a big sleeper, until recently I only slept about 3 hours a night tops.

I can sleep through absolutly anything...I can sleep a good 12 hours straight, no problem lol.
I used to pull allnighters on party nights and stuff.
My best one, I was awake from 10 am friday. I had my day, started to party, and didnt sleep until 12 am saterday night. We played basketball at 2 in the morning on a random court. It was real fun!

I need sleep.
I can stay up for a full 24 if I need to but in reality I am crap unless I get a nice solid 7-8 hours per night.

Just like a lot or you guys, I stay up more than I really need to. Right now I am sleeping 6 to7 hours on a school night. I remember when I went to the beach with acouple of budds, we were there for 5 days and I slep the most one hour each day. Who would sleep if you we're there? It might of been because 7 people were in a room with one bed... hehe

Much like Linds, i have an overactive imagination. Takes me at least 2 hours for me to fall asleep after im in bed. Then I wake up every few hours then struggle to go back to sleep again. This was very depressing on school nights, waking up after maybe 2 hours of sleep to start the day. The weird thing is, I never had problems sleeping in school. Anyway, im done with school now and I have pills for sleeping, the only problem is they make me sleep 12 hours+, through alarm clocks and everything. I wish i could be normal and get like 6-7!
Later.
Dan.

has anyone ever tried being nocturnal for a week? Its so fun my cousins and I had to make the transition slowly though by going to bed early and early every day until for a whole week we would go to sleep at 6a.m and then wake up later at 9p.m. Lol yes i know i have no life but its pretty fun and since we are discussing sleep... also i;m curious whats the longest you've ever slept for? i'd have to say close to 13 hours once.
cheers kayla

Ya Linds and chunkymonky, I hear you. I have the worst time sleeping for more than an hour at a time during the night. I wake up to any sounds, including the furnice going on, cars driving by outside, any little noise in the house. I don't have nightmares to often but I do have a problem sleeping, I've actually gotten up in the middle of the night and taken a shower, played on the computer, watched a bit of t.v. or read a book until I get tired again. It's hard when you work an 8 hour shift everyday doing the same thing daily. lol. Probably have insomnia or something but never got it checked. I hate going to the doctors, especially if I think he's going to give me pills.
And to answer the post the least sleep I've gone on was about 3 hours in 2 days. I practically died on the third night, I was sooooooooooo tired! Don't know if I can ever do that again, with my old age and all. lol. But I guess I get about 6-7 hours in 2 nights every time I go to the expos.
