i was givin my beardie a bath and all the sudden he puffed up like a balloon i got really scared i thought he was going to pop.he does this every time.am i doing something wrong????or is he just doing this cause he is mad? i am really scared.he blows up soooooooo much like a balloon.is this normal?
unless your beardie is severely dehydrated; bathing isn't really nessecary, they get lots of moisture from vegitation and just a plain water bowl. If he's puffing up hes probably just trying to look big to you, probably intimidated.
We bath all our Dragons (20). Some like the water, some don't. However, bathing them insures that they are well hydrated. It is not unusual for your Beardy to bloat up. Some of ours do the "bloat and float". Your not doing wrong by bathing, just make sure you use warm water, no deeper that the top of thier shoulders. Eventually, they settle down when put into water. Do you have a face cloth beneath them when bathing? Your dragon may just be unsure of it's footing.
