Snake Proof Flourescent Light Fixture

A while ago there was a thread requesting designs for a snake proof light holder. I designed a flourescent light holder that has protected a boa and a royal python from the bulb.

Build a box that the fixture fits in and is about 1 inch taller than the fixture with the light bulb and 4 - 5 inches longer than the fixture. I used 1/4 inch oak plywood cut into strips 4" wide. Glue the box together (should have 4 sides and a bottom). Drop the light in and mount on the bottom. The screws will go through the bottom of the box and into the lid/top of the enclosure.
Then make a frame that fits over the box using molding (L shaped).. A piece of plexi drops into the frame and is lifted over the opening of the box. Hold the cover with 4 screws.

I have posted photos at

Cool stuff. I made my Floro built into the top of my lid with lexan covering it on the bottom.
