I've been reading the care sheets for kings and corns, and got to reading about uth's. The NERD sheets mention variable uths... but I've only ever seen continual ones (then again I live in the boonies hehe). I'm assuming that a uth could be put on a slide dimmer like a lamp, but are controllable ones available?
Hmmm... I've never seen or heard of variable temp UTH's either. Maybe he is talking about human heat pads, since many people utilize them and they do have temperature control settings. I wouldn't recommend using those though, since they increase the chance of fire. Though many people have used them for many eyars with success, there are still some people that have lost their homes and collections to them as well. The fact remains that these devices were not designed to be left on 24/7. The best option is to slap a dimmer or thermostat on the UTH to control the temps .
Thanks Linds... that's the way I'm going to do it, I think . But has anyone ever tried to use a defrosting element from a fridge/freezer? Someone told me that they're kind of like heat tape (in function not design of course)...
