Very pretty little one!! Is this hognose species exempt from the restriction on hogs in Alberta?? Really neat pattern and it looks so much longer and thinner than the other hognoses I have seen in pics!

Wow~ I am not really a fan of Hognose snakes but that really looks nice. Reminds me of a florida kings pattern.
Congrats! Those would make amazing albinos!

Vanderkm, it is a Malagasy Hognose, not a North American.
gonesnakee,
Very pretty. Just don't get bit. You never know how you will react to the venom.

Thanks for the info on species Mark and BW. I knew that one looked different from the usual hogs - but really not a species I know anything about. Great background in your link Mark - makes sense if these are completely different. I love when I can learn new stuff from these lists.
Very pretty snake! Congrats again on a new addition (did you just get one??)

I actually have a pair so we'll see how things go. If one goes to the http://www.hognose.com there is lots of info on them & others. I was reading up on the venom etc. & sounds like these ones are apt to cause reactions & are apt to want to chew ya if agitated enough. I have to agree with BWS on not wanting to be tagged too bad as even if ya don't react it doesn't sound like much fun. Little more to it than say Westerns I'm thinking anyhow. They are both eating F/T mice for me already, so, so far so good. I guess the previous owner had to transfer them over from Frogs so I missed out on all the fun. The female pictured is beleived CB & the male is beleived to be WC & looks it compared to her. Buddy I got them from had them for 1.5 years so I'm pretty confident they will do well. Mark
