Since I know you guys like black bloods (dialup hell!)
Meet "Macho" - a lovely male Sumatran short-tailed python I acquired in a trade from Angel. This snake is a joy to work with & just a chisled onyx beauty. His head fades from dark charcoal (as you see here) to a light platinum color (still waiting to catch those shots!). Hopefully he'll be siring his first clutch of bouncing baby black bloods this year!
This is "Coco Mama" - a female Sumatran short-tailed python produced by VPI in summer 2000. I stupidly parted with this snake a couple of years ago, and through a long series of fortuitous and unexpected events she found her way back into my collection - needless to say I'm thrilled and she's here to stay!
Can you see why she's my all-time favorite curtus? I'm thinking she & Macho should throw some killer offspring - now I'm just praying they're not both het for ugly!
Enjoy!

Those Black bloods are so killer. I wish there were more quality ones like that around, because id surely want to have ones like those in my collection. Superb.

Love those snakes! I agree with Big V that black bloods are pretty scarce up here in Canada. My girl looks very much like yours, Kara. My male is a black head and also a beauty.
I am hoping we see more of these snakes in Canada soon.

If there were black bloods of that quality available up here Id have to make a serious jump into breeding those guys. They just look so amazing it blows my mind everytime I see one so nice.

Get your CITES ready after the black bloods hatch, Kara. I'll be contacting you.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I am extremely hopeful for this pairing & can't wait to see what they'll produce. To ice the cake, these are 2 of the sweetest snakes one could ever hope to work with, just very tame, friendly animals with fabulous personalities.
I'm looking forward to selectively breeding both chrome & blackheaded black bloods to see just how extreme they can be!

The chrome heads are my favorite. No question there.

Me too, Ken. Even though a really dark black w/black head is stunning, I love the contrast of the chrome heads. You should see Macho on his best days - his head is almost white. It gives me goosebumps to look at him! Coco's head rarely fades, so I'm hoping she'll bring out the best in Macho through their future offspring.
Yikes!

Hey Kara,
I can't help my self, from chasing these photos from forum to forum. I just love these guys. They are going to produce some outstanding babies some day soon for you. Macho is a little precocious dude, I'm sure, so he'll probably be ready for you sooner than you think. LOL!
