Just saw some pictures of extreme huge constrictors and was wondering the following thing:
My smalles imperator has recently been euthanised (
http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/showt...threadid=51368). She was 3-4 years old and the first owner fed her 1 little rat every two weeks. To my opinion she was a little skinny and verry small for her age. Had her overhere and fed a little more but not extreme. My vet took her open and she was way to fat. Not a little but all the organs were laying between big masses of white fat.
I couldn't believe my eyes, a real thiny constrictor with so much fat inside? My vet told me it was way to much and much of it also had been there before I got her.
My other boa's are bigger, longer and heavier. Suspect that they are way to fat but only feed them once every 3-4 weeks. All got a prey they can handle (little rabbits) so think I'm not overfeeding them. When I compare them to other boa's they don't look that fat at all?
Thinking of my little one (R.I.P.) she was just fine, mayby little skinny but not to much. In my eyes no fat at all only muscles. The inside proved the other way, think more than 50% of the inside was fat...
I just can't understand it, she was fed little mice and later one little rats, one every two weeks. Had a huge cage with her first owner and was verry active. How can a snake get that fat???
edit: about my late snake: 3-4 years old, 4.5 feet, 4.2 pounds.
