? About Carrot-tails

Hello... I just have a question... I just bought some baby leopard geckos who are normal, but are said to have carrot-tailed mothers (there are two different mothers involved, and the babies are also het for Tremp Albino). Will the orange tail develop over time, or is that something they have when hatched? I really don't care if these guys are special or not... to me, if they have carrot-tails that's just icing on the cake! Thanks in advance!!

I bought my first leo from petsmart and she was only a high yellow but she developped some carrot. I think that all of the "reg" morphs (hypo super hypo reg high yellow ect ect) develop at least a little throughout there lives.

Well, I do expect their patterns and perhaps some colors to change, but I was just curious because the breeder told me that they could develope the characteristic orange tails when they get older. I wasn't sure, these babies look like cute little normals to me... hopfully some turn out to be a nice high-yellow... Thanks for trying! =)

That's why I'm asking since the breeder said that they could develope carrot-tails... which are obviously not present now. My question is do they develope it, or is it noticable after hatching, or is it a little of both??? =)

I'm pretty sure that if the mothers were bred to normal fathers then the babies would come out normal.

The father is a Tremp albino... the babies are hets...

I have never seen any of my geckos develop orange color. All of the geckos that I have had the carrot tails from birth.

That's what I thought, too; the breeder just threw me off with that 'may develop it later' comment. All just the same, they are beautiful to me... I will be picking them up today so I'll let you guys know how they look in person... Thanks!

Usually the carrot tail will be seen from the time they hatch...... Your babies may develope some orange in the tail but will most likely not be enough to be called carrot tails...... Carrot tail is line bred not recessive..... Those babies are awesome anyway......

My leos developed it as they got older as well, but ya probably not a true carrot-tail. All my tangerines that is. Somehow I don't think the blizzards or patternless albinos gonna be popping up any soon.

Thanks, guys! I really don't care what color they are because I love them no matter what! Well I picked up my yougins yesturday afternoon and they are so much better looking in person... definately a few hi-yellows, one of which is orange towards the rear and back... I hope that one developes a bit more. Apparently they were all incubated for female... but that's fine with me seeing that I bought 8 of them =D I will try to post some more pix of them soon... thanks again!
