What would I do without my digi-cam :)
Well, I'm in the process of a total renovation of my herp room and have aniamls all over the house, paint in my lungs, and I'm looking for excuses to procrastinate, so here we are

After one of my previous 'games' someone had asked to post pics of a female to see the physical differences between the sexes. Here's a pic with both male(s) and female(s) and I thought it would be fun to share with you all.
Does anyone care to give it a whirl and give a sex ratio for the animals pctured? Have fun guys and if nothing else, enjoy the pic

Okay, I'm not educated on these guys but I'll venture a guess... Three males, two females???

Yep. Looks like 3.2 to me, too.
But what do I know? I have 5 monitors and only know the sex of one of them, and that one I'm not sure of....

hahaha.......are you going to venture a guess Jeff?? Please do, or I have a feeling I'll be flooded with pictures in a few months
Just kidding Jeff, you know I'll offer you any support I can. I do hope you realize what you are getting into though. I remember when bought my first ackie.......now I try not to count too often, and just look the other way when I'm buying crickets for the week
Keep at it guys, maybe some more detail with your guesses as well Specifically, which animal is which sex?

And I have no idea what I've gotten myself into! Ha ha!

Two females are on the top of the pile, off center to the right. The animal on the far right, bottom, is hard to tell, looks like it's missing a neck, so I say male. The far left looks male, and the massive animal on the very bottom of the pile looks male. My initial guess is 3.2.

Well, it seems as though everyone is done guessing so here's the answer.......
1.4 is the sex ratio of the monitors in the picture. The male is the one on the far left, the big girl on the bottom of the pile is gravid in this picture and the female on the top had just laid eggs just prior to the time the picture was taken.
Just for a little more info, all that are pictured were between a month and two months shy of 2 years old when the picture was taken, and have been in my care sice they were two weeks of age.
Thanks for playing everyone, and I hope you all had fun

Hahaha, my better judgement told me that you would not have 3.2 grouped, but this just illustrates how little experience I have with these guys. I look forward to the next game.

To be completely honest, Keith, I would have left them in the group they were raised in regardless of what sex they were. I just lucked out and ended up with 1.4
The point of my little games is for everyone to have a little fun, and to give some a little exposure to those that don't keep any and/or haven't seen Dwarf Monitors before. They really are amazing creatures
