Talking My Senegal Chameleon

This is my first Chameleon, I know, I know..... the Senegals are hard to keep alive... I didn't find out that info until I had already committed to buying this little guy. I tried to eliminate stress as much as I could, I purchased his cage and the wonderful LPS mgr was nice enough to asssemble the cage and put him in it and gave him a week to acclimate to the new cage while he was still in the backroom of the store (which was where she was keeping him). It must have helped a lot because he has never slowed down on his eating and seems very happy! He just shed and still has a few pieces stuck on him but they are coming off little by little. I really love this little guy! His name is Forest.

Thanks for the nice comments! Do you think he looks thin? Or is he about right?
I worry that I'm not giving him enough to eat, he always cleans up all the crix I put in his cage and has eaten a few roaches for me too. How many should a Cham that size be eating a day?

I like to feed mine as much as they want .. I usually throw in 10-20 crix a day, and if they eat it all I give them more, if not I don't worry about it.

I just like to make sure they have the oppertunity to eat as much as they want and when they want. (Of course I just got hit with the infamous hunger strike, which will be cleared up shortly - LOL)

Best of luck.

Senegals are a thinner bodied animal...I think that yours looks fine.....Senegals ar eabsolutely awesome and have great personalities and do not get all moody like a veiled....I think you made a great decision with your Senegal

He does have a good personality, sometimes he will voluntarily climb onto my hand when I am doing something in the cage. I sure hope he does well, because I am already way attatched to him I love to sit and watch him move around his cage, he is so slow and deliberate in his movements. I can see how someone would get "Chameleon fever" LOL!

looks like a red heat lamp, for future refrence those are way over priced. normal bulbs work fine at correct wattages, so when that one burns out there a normal bulb will do just fine. might save some cash u can put into other needs. he looks good, congrats and good luck with him

actually the red bulb is just a regular 60 watt bulb, only cost me a dollar or so.
