wish me luck for my feeding attempt !!
I bought a gerbil today as a last resort..and it seems to work..each time my BP see it.. he is in attack mode. Now, I hope he will eat a rat if I put the scent of the gerbil on it..

i started my BP on rat pups before moving on to small than medium rats. i use gerbils as a treat/ motivation to eat.

ARGHHHH nothing again :P..he didnt even take the gerbil snif..he is getting skinny :O( (its been 1 month since his last real meal)
Now, I know why some people like big agressive snakes ;p: no feeding problems!!

Gerbils as treats? Are they better then normal mice/rats?
Never had a snake before, just got my first...so I am just wondering.

Gerbils should only be used as a last resort, since BP's favour them over everything, it can be extremely difficult (if not impossible) to get them switched to rats or mice. They are no better than rats or mice nutrition-wise, they are more expensive to purchase, and a bit of a pain to breed. It's best to avoid feeding gerbils if you can.

Have you had a fecal done on your snake? One month isn't a long time to go, a healthy snake shouldn't be showing any signs of weight loss after being off feed for only one month. It sounds like you need to stop trying so hard with your little guy. If you try and push too hard they won't eat altogether. Make sure you do not handle him at all until he is feeding regularily for you and keep him in a low-traffic area. Even cover his cage a bit so he feels a little more secure. Patience is key with a non-feeding ball

Actually we have a harder time feeding our BCC then our BP the bp is like SNATCH CHOMP where the BCC waits till everyone is sleeping. doesn't strike @ food

i agree, i would have him checked out by the vet.....my CB BP went 2 months with no munchies and didnt lose any weight. i suggest you have him checked just in case.

I agree with Linds that was exactly what I was thinking while reading your pot. A healthy bp should be able to go 6 months or more without food and not lost much weight.
Again I am new here but while my bps have been pounding rat pups I pound every book n article I can find. LOL, I have read more over the past 6 months on snakes than I did homework in university.

no vets are "reptiles specialist" in my area..is it possible for them to do a fecal test...? Last time he did a bad shed too  ....

Sorry to hear your BP didn't eat... Must be a little unnerving... A stool test would let you know if it has any internal parasites but if you don't have any specialized vets in your area you'll have to call around to find out. Which part of Quebec are you living in? I've heard of a great vet in Mtl. for reptiles and of a decent one around Quebec city.
