Got an egg question...

Alright, so I have a clutch of 7 eggs that have been doing just fine (and it is Day 42 of incubation) and I have candled all the eggs and see lots of veins, but one got a small window on it last week, and now it is just brown. What could have done that to just that one egg? I could see if it was infertile (but I saw veins), or there was a temperature spike, but wouldn't that affect all the eggs? (Plus, there was no spike that I know of). Do babies just die mid-term sometimes?

They sure do, despite having optimal incubation environment, some eggs just don't make it. Not your fault, and nothing you could have done to prevent it, it just happens.
