Stripey! *pics*

Now, as you can plainly (tee hee) see, this is a garter and a Plains Garter,Thamnophis radix, at that. Lovely li'l critter and as you can see a good eater.

Garters make good little pets as they are small, pretty, and good eaters. This little guy is eating the scraps from extras I thawed out.

Unfortunately, there are very few CB out there. I do know that Jonathan Crowe produces true CBB (other species not plains) and Phil Blais works with flame race garters. Buyer beware when it comes to garters as some may try to pass off W/C as CB or CBB.

Take a load of the stripe!!! He has an excellent personality, not too flightly and not musky!

pssst, he's a he!!!

Garters are one of the most naturally beautiful snakes out there. I think the musk turns people off and the fact that they are "cheap".

Very pretty example! I agree garters are lovely snakes. A friend has a wandering garter and even though it is muted colors it is so pretty. Thanks for sharing the picture -

NICE stripe!!!

I've thought recently about getting some non-local Garter ssp... maybe some flame morphs or amels...

Nice to see a Thamno-fan!

VERY pretty garter. I've got 2 of Jonathan's red-sided's and they are GORGEOUS little animals! I think every collection should have a couple of garters!

They musked at first, but with a bit of handling, they were just great. And the great thing is, Jonathan has them started on pinkies before selling them, so they're super-easy to feed!

Yeah for garters!

Nobody in Canada breeds plains. Unfortunately, like I said. There are many garters out there, that are WC or CH by gravid W/C parents. Trade in w/c native animals and their progeny is prohibited in BC, AB, and SK. Don't know about the other provinces as I have never lived in them.

Thats true i'm pretty sure i could get a permit for a wild one but i'll probably just get a flordia red sided or whatever else i can find, I like all of the different species so it dosen;t matter to much to me. although menalistic and red sideded r my favs.
