The ssnakess.com Chat Room!!
As some of you know, we have a chat room here at sSNAKESs.com, however, as of late, traffic has been a little, slow.. We're now up to 5,210 members, and im sure we don't all know one another. So why not stop by the chat and say hello, introduce yourself and talk about what we're all on the forums for..
If you're not the chatty type, but are looking for an answer to a question you have (herp related) there is always someone in there that can help.. It's a great place to to get help, get answers right away, meet new people and discuss what we're all interested in.. Look forward to seeing some of you in there in the near future!!
The same rules as the forums apply!!

The chat is a great place to share ideas, get opinions, talk, meet new people or get help with herp emergencies (someone is usually there, even into the wee hours of the morning) !
Just the other day, I discovered someone new in chat was my neighbour...how neat is that?
Its worth checking out guys

How to get to the channel using Mirc
Select the server Chat-Solutions. The proper domain name is irc.chat-solutions.com
To connect to the server from the status window, rather than by pointing and clicking type: /server irc.chat-solutions.com
Some text will scroll by notifying you that you've successfully connected to the server. You may see a notice telling you that you are using a registered nickname. This means that someone else has reserved that nickname, and without a passwould you will be assigned a random name in about 60 seconds.
To change your name type: /nick NewNickName
For example: /nick ChandlerBing
You can find the sSnakeSs channel by listing all the channels available on the server. Do this by selecting >Tools >List Channels On a busy server this can cause you to lag out due to the flood of channel names.
The most direct way is to type /join #ssnakess in your status window. This will take you right to the channel. The # in front of the name tells the server that you are defining a channel and not a persons nickname.
There are usually a few people in the channel. Sometimes they have been there for hours, doing other things on their computer while they wait for other sSnakeSs members to pop by. When you say hello, don't get frustrated and give up if they don't reply immediately. It might take a few minutes before they realize there is a real, live, human being there.
Seeking advice
If you have just received a brand new animal and have lots of questions about it because you know nothing about it, don't be offended if someone tells you that you should have done your homework in advance. They're looking out for the welfare of your pet. If you were from a tropical country would you want to be dumped naked and freezing in a glass cage, with monsters looming over you, and no place to hide? Neither does a snake, lizard, or other animal.
The people with the @ signs beside their names are the Channel Operators. Typically these are the level-headed and informed people in the channel, or just really good suck-ups They'll also kick your butt good if you act up.
Come on in and have fun

Agreed! It would be great to see more people in chat... definitely stop by to say hi And Mike, very well put -- especially that last part. LOL.
Chris, if you want to use the chat through the ssnakess website, then yes, it's a "java" chat. However, you can also download mIRC for free (on download.com, or other such sites). It's a much better way of getting into the chat anyways
Look forward to seeing everyone in chat soon!

I've been on it a few times and for the most part no one was talking, unless they were all pm-ing each other. I think chat rooms are a good thing, but only if people actually chat on them. I have had some good chats on it too. I would def. use it more if I knew that people were chatting and not just sitting there with it on. JMO.

I have been in that room for ages now and i still enjoy it. Yes there are alot of moments that its rather quiet in there, but i blame that on the timezones
But indeed, it can be kinda silent in there. So thats just a reason for everybody to join the chat and make it lively again
Greetz Daan
PS. im not a channel operator, so i guess im just a good suck-up

Sometimes it is Quiet in there, but that's usually around the same time each night.. The only way to break that silence, is to get more traffic in the chat.. Last night we had quite a few people show up in there and im sure the ones that came in will tell you, it was fun.. Lots of talking/joking going on and some good conversation..

Agreed. In fact I've seen Grant in there many times, totalling about 174 seconds We must be growing on him though, he's started staying around for 15 to 20 seconds at a time now. Heheheh.

The best is when he leaves.. Its soo sudden.. Mid conversation he just says, 'goodbye' and leaves.. He's like that in person too!! Well, at least he is with me.. that's not a good thing, is it???
