Ummmm, what happened to the rest of the pede?
Is that from a molt? Do you have pics of the whole molt? I've never seen one...

Very nice idea to include a pushpin for reference! Now I'll get creeped out every time I see a pushpin!

How do you like your pede as a pet? Interesting, boring, worth the money or not really? Just curious, I maybe want one of those monsters....

Dragoon -- out of all my animals, my centipedes are my favourites! They do spend a fair bit of time hiding, but when they come out and truck around their enclosures with all those legs going a mile a minute -- nothing beats 'em! Beautiful colours too, and there's just something fascinating about the way that they move.
I think they are WELL worth it!!

Thanks for the reply!
Can you answer any of the other questions?
I especially want to know how fast they are... I keep reading that they are quick moving! But I'd like to know, compared to what? Are they faster than a tarantula? Faster than the really fast tarantulas (poecs, H. macs)?

May I ask what species you keep, ~suntiger~? I'm attracted to the mortisans, because of the blue legs, those look quite nice...
Thanks much
D.

yeah they move cool, but lets face it watching them kill stuff is pretty damn sweet... Nothing as grusome as a pepe killing a small mouse.

Yep, you're absolutely right -- they're SUPER fast! But I hesitate to compare their speed to tarantulas, just because the way that they move is so different. (More unpredictable if anything.)

Right now I just have a vietnamese and a yellow leg (which I find much more laid back of the two), but in the past I have kept the blue legs and a hatian. (I'll have to get some again!! This thread has given me the centipede urge again, lol.)

And yeah, I definitely have to agree that there are few things as impressive as a centipede's ferocity! That's one creature I'll never get bored of watching eat!
