Thumbs up BT pics and question

Here's a couple more pics of my new irian jaya blue tongue skink....

Just wondering if anyone here has been bitten by a blue tongue and if so, please describe what it was like.

Thanks,

-Adam

see how wide that head is? Very strong jaws to crush large land snails. It would probably be something you would not soon forget.LOL.

A bite from a blue tongued skink would be quite painful, as they have large jaws used to crush snails. That said, a blue tongued skink biting is a rare thing. I have had mine for 4 years now, and he has never showed any inclination to bite. Even when startled, he will run quickly (or should I say scoot on his belly...lol) and squirm, but has never tried to bite. They are very docile lizards that don't bite easily. However yes, it would be painful. Not like being bitten by a leopard gecko by any means. I think I have only personally heard of a blue tongue bite only once. Beautiful bts you got there, btw.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Lisa: It's good to hear that bites from bts seem to be uncommon. I didn't even think of a possible bite until mine was acting a little weird so I used a small glove and it "mouthed" it. Nothing much, just kinda tasted.

Ciddian: Nope, didn't get bit by the old bts at work but I've taken lots of bites off those darn feeder mice and rats. See you Saturday.

Yeah their bits are pretty brutal, I got bitten last week when I was hand feeding some roaches. They dont have teeth really, just incredibly strong jaws. I got mine off by blowing in his face really hard.
