Hypo is short for hypomelanistic which is a gene mutation (simple recessive in most snakes) that results in reduced intensity of the black pigment - produces dark grey to silver grey instead of black in hondos (produces a chocolate tinge in some other species).

Tipping is the black edge on the scales that appears in most hondurans (and some other milks) on the red, orange or white bands. It is more intense in females than males, develops more with age in both sexes. It is considered undesirable by those who like clean color bands, but some people actually prefer the tipped look (adds depth to the color).

We don't handle our milks for 2-3 days after feeding,

mary v.
