The amount of time from copultation to egg laying varies a little but I consider around 60 days to be the average. Watch for your females next shed then start counting the days. She should lay her eggs about 7 to 10 days later.

thanks guys and after the eggs are laid???.....i heard not to move them cause it messes em up so i kinda thought about just leaveing themin there and havin her hatch them herself what do u think?

Well BEFORE you bred them, you should have done research, whether book wise in a library, or on the internet. Not while the snakes are already breeding.

How long/big is your female?

Sapphire Moon its a little late for telling him to do his research don't you think? That's OBVIOUSLY the best choice but we don't constantly all need to see it repeated with no offer of any answer to the actual question.

You should remove the eggs, the mother will do nothing to incubate them properly and some may get bumped around etc. The only sure way to do it is remove them.

Get yourself a rubbermaid and some vermeculite or sphangnum moss (available at any walmart etc)

Mix the vermeculite with enough water that when you sqeeze a handful its plenty wet, but not dripping. Add water a cup at a time and keep mixing until you get this consistancy. Then use a thermometer and set up this rubbermaid on a warm shelf, or somewhere thats between around 78-85. You don't want temp spikes or many fluctuations but corn eggs are pretty hardy. Shoot for a constant temp! Use the thermometer before putting the eggs in to ensure no temp spikes are happening or its not too cold.

Place your eggs in here after she has finished laying. If the eggs are in a clump, you can incubate them that way and its best to not try and seperate, although sometimes possible if the eggs were found shortly after laying. Depending on where you set your constant incubation temp the eggs will hatch in a certain number of days in relation to the temp. The Cornsnake Manual goes into depth about all this as well as many many cornsnake websites on the net. Try google.

I also wanted to add, by the photo your female looks very small to be breeding. I might be wrong, but she looks REALLY small. Since the deed is already done I suggest you feed her heavily until she refuses food. And some gentle exercise early on has been said to help prevent egg binding, which is a concern with a female that small.

thanks marisa i think u just gave me more help than any one else thanks for everything but just one question i already purchased the peat moss so do u think it will work?

I haven't used peat. I only used vermeculite. I think someone on here will be able to tell you yes or no though. I personally cannot remember the pros and cons of peat. But getting a bag of vermeculite will only cost you 5 bucks or so. It's cheap and you still have plenty of time to purchase it. This will be the LEAST of your purchases before the babies hatch. You are going to need to start buying enclosures, small shoe box rubbermaids work well and affordable, but the biggest issue you'll need to start thinking of is pinkies. So start stocking up on all your supplies now! Big time.

The important thing is you need to watch this female close. She is small. So keep a CLOSE eye on her habits and make sure to provide the nesting box well in advance, you'll know when she is about to lay. She'll have a prelay shed, and become restless in her enclosure. I'd make sure you are housing her alone for sure.

It can work but it's only like $5 for a huge bag of vermiculite. The choice is yours though.

But you shouldn't have much trouble finding several great incubator threads if you search these forums. Just try not to cut any corners and you should be fine.
