My desert kingsnake (L. getula splendida) is now around 36" long and has a girth of at least 4". It was feeding principaly on adult mice up to now (meaning today) and my question is: In your expert opinion do you believe that switching it to fuzzy rats should be a good thing. Fuzzy rats are a little bigger than adult mice. I think by the looks of my snake that he is ready to switch. what do you think?
Are you sure you don't mean rat pups? If I were to choose between a fuzzie rat and an adult mouse I would stick with the mouse, more bone structure and less fat. If it was between a pup and an adult mouse however, I would take the pup.
