just call me "gimpy"...
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to do a little explaining, for those of you who saw me hopping around like a dork at the show yesterday!
It was because I just got a new tattoo on Saturday, and my foot poofed up like a freakin' blowfish! It's still swollen, and I was going to post a pic but decided it was too gross, lol. (This one was taken right after the tattoo was finished, which is why my foot still looks normal.)[IMG] [/IMG]
And oh yes, many thanks to Rob and Stav, who both carried me at points throughout the day!! Thanks guys!!

Very nice looking tat, i can only imagine how swollen that must be and how bad it would feel to put any pressure on it. When i got my leg done, it swelled right up and hurt like crazy just walking.. It looks great though, and the pain is all worth it after the swelling is gone and the tat is healed

Yes it's still swollen!! It sucks right now! But yes, the pain and discomfort will be worth it in the end. I got sick of hopping everywhere, so I've started wheeling myself around my appartment in my chair, lol! And I'm getting pretty damn good at it too. Right now however, I've got a bag of frozen french fries on it to try and get the swelling to go down. lol
I've had a few people suggest that I go get a doctor to look at it -- how many of you guys have had tattoos swell up? What did you do about it?
I was just planning on sucking it up and hangin out with my french fries, lol, but now I'm not so sure. Any advice?

i'm not sure what a doctor will do for you, it will go down eventually.. Like i said, my Leg ballooned up the day after i got it and the pain was horrible, but it went away after 2-3 days. the same with my wrist, it tripled in size and i still had to work the next day.. It wasn't pretty, but the swelling definatly went down within 2 days.. Is the cold from the fries helping at all??? Have you noticed the swelling going down at all? How about the pain, is it taking care of that at all?? I would say that if the swelling lasts longer then a few days, maybe then seek some doctors advice, but all tattoo's swell, atleast in my experience..

The degree to which you swell is usually individual, if you normally swell from a tat then its normal. If you don't usually have any swelling, I'd keep an eye on it............JMO

Hmm, ok thanks for the advice... This is #10 for me, and the first 9 didn't swell at all. But it HAS gone down a bit, and doesn't really hurt much unless I try to put pressure on it -- just a pain in the butt!

Great tat Suntiger Dont know what possessed you to get it there though Ouch!!! Like Matt was asking it would depend on alot of things but I would be carefull only because of where the tat is and there is alot of bacteria on a foot. You will want to keep it dry and in fresh air, just a thought!
When i got mine on my back though mind you, I did not swell at all so I cant help you to much with that part maybe if you did post a pic the ppl can give you a better idea weather it is normal or not.

I've got a couple of tats, mind you none in that area, but none of mine have ever swollen. Could be due to the fact that the skin is being constantly irritated with shoes/socks. Try to let it your foot be 'free' for a few days, should clear up.

I'm sure it all depends on where you get the tat for the amount of noticable swelling.. Im sure you were able to walk fine just after it was done, but the next day, all that pressure that was put on the foot after the tattoo'ing comes back to bite you on the.... foot... Thinking back, the only tats that i have gotten with any substantal swelling were my wrist and leg.. Both area's that are pretty much constantly moving. So i guess the added stress on the area makes for more swelling?? Just a thought..
