How long is the right amount of time to allow your res to be out of water? I usually let mine out of their pool for about an hour and a half a day, and their out of water when their basking to.

There really isn't a special amount of time for one to be out. As long as they can and do dry out for periods at a time during the day.

They will do what is best for them really. Like was said before, as long as they can bask and dry out on their own they dont really need to be out of the water.
Cheers,
Ryan
