1/31/04 Fl.
Met up with friends for a 45 min. check of a promising looking area. Found: 3 corns and a black racer.
Pretty nice for less than an hour on a cool, damp, January day!

Nice looking little Racer. I was really pleased to see one out last week in while I was in Tampa. Nearly made me want to move!

I can't for the life of me understand why everyone calls them corn snakes. Ive' never seen one any where near a corn feild. LOL . Ive always called them what they are,...red rat snakes. Do you ever find any indigos? I have a pair I plan to breed. I used to live in the Fort Myers area and I never found any. I realy looked to, in fact I probably found more snakes than most because I was an animal control officer. I could tell you some stories about escapees! Now I live in Missouri, so it's legal to have indigos. w.b.s.... I'm Tony.

Tony, here's one we saw last year in Feb. north of Tampa. He was in shed here, so imagine what he'd look like after!

Wow! What a find! Gorgeous red chin! One of these days when I've got more room... and time to clean cages daily...

snakey, corn snakes apparently got their name from the colouration of their belly scales - the chequered pattern resembles multicoloured 'Indian' corn.
