Not really a "morph" so to speak, of course offspring will resemble their parents to a degree, but that's the same with any traits, generally just has a lot of black dorsally with little interruption. Personally, I think they should have black completely uninterrupted to be called a black back. They are nothing more than normals to me... but in the world of Ball Pythons everything is a morph

A nice example from NERD's site...

Even that one has interruptions though.

We have a "black back" male from Scales Zoo, here's his mug shot:

I call them a black back if their dorsal parrtern is mostly black. But like Linds said, EVERYTHING is a morph with BPs.

In my collection my Black Backs and Black Stripes are both genetic. Here is how I define the 2 mutations.

Black Backs have a wide black stripe running the length of the body that is uniform thickness all the way down the back. They also have abbarent side patterns as well.

Black Stripes have a wavy black stripe running the length of the body with the thickness of the stripe varying down the length of the body. They have a clean side pattern with the ones with almost no side pattern being most desireable (IMHO).

Here are some pics of both mutations (offspring that I have produce from my genetic lines).
