Reptile Industry Reports?
I'm doing a project, more for myself than any class or anything. And I've been searching the web all week for this and still can't find it, I don't even know if these stats exsist...
For a while everyone I talk to in the herping industry says that the Herp Hobby is on the rise. That reptile keeping is becoming more and more popular.
Does anyone actually have a site that has literal statistics that show it. Especially financially. Showing how much money the reptile industry makes. Showing that more and more people are keeping herps. Etc.
I've very curious and very business minded, I love reading up on things like this, but it's hard when you can't find anything to read lol

It would very difficult to estimate how much money is involved, since many small breeders are not a registered business, as well, as a large amount of the sales made are through private keepers.

You can see it in the petstores with herp area expanding or even having a presence where they weren't before. Some petstores won't even sell dogs or cats but sell herps, fish and small animals.

I believe that any stat you will get from the Ministry of Commercial Relations will be flawed because a great percentage of reptile owners are "underground" due to by-law issues or tax reasons.

Very true Chase...maybe I'll do my own surveys and opinion polls on different online forums...but even then, the research would be flawed because it would be strictly internet based.

For the pruposes of a school report I would simply interview a couple of private breeders for heresay and a couple of pet stores that might be able to offer hard numbers. That should be suficient enough for a school report.
