(Charina) Lichanura trivirgata arizonae (only two a's) is the Arizona Rosy Boa.

Awwwwwwww man, have the splitters been at it again??? I'd be interested in seeing the literature reference for this one Linds.

They have been at it again Scotty, Apparantley they have just the common name for Candoia to Bevelnosed Boa. Whats up with that..? Wasn't that obvious enough when the species was found. LOL! As far as Charina goes they've been messing around with some of the ssp to the best of my knowledge.

Can't remember where I got it from, I remember it from when I was researching the "taxonomy" of rosy boas, if you can even call it that.

The first I heard they were changing Lichanura to Charina was last year, actually I think the first time was from Roy

I responded in length to this via email..
There is currently no consensus on either family or subspecies for Rosy boas...
The subspecies "arizonae" was suggested for central Arizona rosies characterized by having black bordered ventrals(train tracks) as part of David Spiteri's work, but it hasn't been widely accepted.
Most consider those to still be "gracia"(Arizona desert rosyboa)

We here in Arizona take Lichanura trivirgata trivirgata (Mexican Rosy Boa) and L. t. gracia (Desert Rosy Boa) as our two native rosies species. Thus far, L.t.arizonae has not been widely accepted. The ssp. that would most likely fall into this would be populations of gracia in central Arizona.
