Hi guys!
Since it is winter in Northern America and little field herping can be done...i figured i'd post a snake i caught while visiting home in december.

...hope it rekindles the fire to rush out and do some herping when spring arrives..

so i was driving on my way home one afternoon on one of the back roads boarded by forest and happened to see this green thing on the road...i almose ran over it but positioned the car just so that it would be between the wheels when i drove over it. i stopped the car about 10metres after that and ran back. my heart almost dropped knowing the possibility that i may have killed what i adore most...a snake. Luckily for me, it was alive!! so i decided to catch it and take a few pics. Well..i had nothing to store it in and i couldn't just dump it in the car and drive...cos that would be dangerous for me and other drivers...so...what did i do?? i took my pants off and tied both ends then used it as a snake bag and then tied the top off...it was hilarious when other cars drove by, seeing me in my underpants with this big green snake!! lol...so enough about it...here are the pics!! enjoy!

You found an Asian Vine Snake in the wild, and you let it go?!?!?!?! Needless to say, those are not native to Canada, so it's obviously somebody's escaped pet. You should have kept it. Those are rare treasures.

Yup Josh, not in Canada of course...lol...its winter in december here. i was back home in Singapore for a bit in December...for those that don't know, its a tiny island just south of Malaysia.

I was actually coming home from collecting insects from the exact same small patch of "forest". Also saw a juvenile Wagler's pit viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri) that same day b4 encountering this vine snake on the road. However, i had no hook and no camera and definatley wouldn't risk myself getting bitten when that far in the woods, just so i can take a picture of it?? no Thanks..lol..Marvelous animals though..

Hey hey ye Singaporean's! Add another one to your list! Where the heck in Singapore did you find that Vine man! The only place I've ever found a snake was in Yishun, a 10-12ft retic (it was a while ago, so I can't remember exactly). Singaporeans Unite! lol!

i found the vine behind botanic gardens...where all the tour buses usually stop. don't know if you know that area...but i spotted the viper somewhere faaaaar off the trail in bukit timah hill..

Bukit Timah's got snakes!?! Man! And to think when I used to live there, I wasn't even looking for them! Gotta make a trip back!! Check out those areas again and hey, might even find a Brahminy blind snake like I did that one rainy night.

Best part was, didn't even know then what it was. Thought it was a wierd leech! Kept thinking that it kept moving it's head like a snake though. Ah well. Next time!
