Very nice. Pastel? Who has pastels in Canada? Might have to get me one of those.
Cheers,
Trevor

Beautiful snake for sure! I must say though that this is one morph that I have been unable to consistently identify. Could someone define what "pastel" means as it relates to boas? There are tonnes of sites that offer to sell you one but I've yet to see one that explains how they are produced.

Nuno he's AMAZING man!!!

MouseKilla,

here is a quote from another post about pastels, it was originally posted by JDouglas but he got the quote from Jeff Ronne at BoaPhile...

"First, what is a "Pastel"? [...] A Pastel is this: A Boa that has an odd overall wash lacking the normal amount of black and a reduction in black pigmentation in particular throughout the pattern. This is particularly apparent in babies, which have the same kind of washed out pattern as Hypos. The saddles as well as the side blotches have less black than "normal". In fact, often the side blotches have no black whatsoever. That's it, no more no less. Now it is unfortunate that this leaves a lot to interpretation. Identifying Pastels can be and is subjective. It is very much a matter of opinion. There are definitely degrees of "Pastelism". How much Pastelism is required to label an animal "Pastel"? I don't know what measure others may use, but I know what I look for in babies. I look for nearly no black in the side pattern. A very small amount of black can be found but nearly none normally. Sorry this can't be more definitive but it just can't."

Thanks chappy. It sounds like murky territory to me. I wonder why you wouldn't call a snake with those characteristics a hypomel? The snake in the posted pic is certainly a lighter coloured specimen but as you look down toward the tail some black does appear and it doesn't appear to be faded in the least. I hope it doesn't seem that I'm trying to diminish the quality or beauty of this specific example, I'm simply trying to wrap my brain around what makes a boa a pastel boa. According to the definition above I think the boa I have may qualify but it was not sold to me as a pastel... I'm confused...

Thanks for the compliments guys. Matt, I got him from Ryan Jensen. Thanks Chappy for the definition of Pastel.

Thanks,
Nuno

That's awesome man, i was going to actually say that he looks like one of Ryan's Babies.. All of his babies are soo distinct.. Have a look at Linkds girl. I picked her up from Ryan and she looks just like your guy, Zoe's girl looks the same too.. He's produced some killer babies, that's for sure..
