My BP is being a jerk...

Well first off my bp hasn't eaten since December 7th.

But he is making it incredibly hard to feed him.

He is extremely active and is almost always out of his hide. He will only eat if he is in his hide so I have been fidning it really difficult to time feeding him. i will see him in hsi hide so I will go dethaw the rat and as soon as it is ready he is out and about again!

My next problem is.. if i DO catch him in his hide and try feeding him... he totally ignores the rat and just tries to come out of his enclosure as soon as the lid is open. He spends all his time in his enclosure looking for a way out and as soon as I open it he is on his way out...

what the heck is up with him? Why does he want out so bad? I have stopped handling him until he eats as he really seems to like to come out and explore and he needs to eat!... I dont want to have to try live feeding.. but what the heck else can I do.. he is being such a little jerk! LOL

Any ideas?

Nicole

How old is he?

He could be wanting to get some lovin.

My male has done the same thing, mine hasnt eaten in like almost 2 months, but its nothing to worry about they can go for a long time with out food. He'll eat when hes ready.

Tis the season...he's just being a BP. Unless he is losing noticable weight I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah he doesn't NEED to eat I saw how big that guy was when you got him from Jeff and he could probably go a year before you noticed any weight loss. LOL! Honestly don't get worried about a non-eating ball python because you will become a stress bag that's what they do. Saying that, you are way better off with that CB baby as they are quite a bit more dependable eaters but will still go off feed for months and months on occasion. I had a het albino sitting at 1300 grams for a year and not eat a meal now thats frustrating.

Don't worry
Scott

Both my bp's went off food November 25th. We were going crazy trying to make him eat. But that only makes you want to pull your hair out. Like everyone else has said, unless he's loosing to much weight, then he will be fine. Just the joys of owning a bp!

Your snake is just being a snake, doing what a snake does. Don't stress it.

Turn up his heat and keep him in a small rubbermaid that's dark.

do what corey said and then leave it like that for a bit. then try to feed him . leave for bout a 1-2 weeks before tryting to feed him again.
what i usually do with mine is i leave them for 2 weeks before feeding them (once they stop eating) and just keep trying to get them to eat every two weeks if they dont eat i'll try them again ..and so on ... usually i feed mine how ever many small-med rats for the two and adult mice for the other (i usuallly feed them once aweek however many they want .)

I know mine are off feed right now, but I noticed that they want out of there tank even more so if there's some snake poo I have not cleaned up right away. Just a thought

My 7 month old hasn't eaten since November 5th. I just weighed her a few days ago, and she hasn't lost any weight. She is also very active, but when I offer her food, she just ignores it. IF your snake doesn't lose a noticable amout of weight, and remains active, I wouldn't worry.

I love this forum.... there is so much great info. My baby stopped eating and finally yesterday she took 2 mice. she wont eat anything else. it has to be the white ones or she will just think they are her friends. she is a big ball 6 ft great width I know she can take more than those little feeder mice but she wont take them. good luck on the feedings./

If she really is six feet get her off mice, onto big rats, or if anything more then two 2 mice.

**edit** Didn't notice you said she wouldn't take more.
