They usually do seem healthy at first. To be honest, they are not a beginners reptile and you will definately want to get a fecal. 9 times out of 10 they are WC and full of parasites. We actually managed to breed them, from a wonderful female. We had no idea she was gravid, and hadn't been with a male in over 14 months. Lo and behold I walked into the reptile room and saw her burrying eggs. Incubation was a breeze, but the babies all passed away. We keep many reptiles and have never had so many problems with any other species. I do not say this to discourage anyone from keeping them, they are fantastic to say the least, but be willing to make a vet appointment and have a fecal done. And research, research, reasearch! I wish you all the best and as I recall there are some very knowlegable people here who keep them also. Absorb thier wonderful advice and learn as much as you can through observation. Keep us updated too, and post some pics if you get the chance

Julie

Oh, and we usually end up paying about $80 cdn, if you get them from a pet store. Through a breeder, about $45cdn

Yeah i get paid in a few days, I'm gonna take him and my macklots python to the vet to make sure that there healthy so they don't get the rest of my herps sick. There is only one vet around here that will see herps and they cost alot of money, but there worth it. I was trying to find a book on MHD but havent found any yet. I have been checking out care sheets though, Have learned some about them. I havent found to much info. on them though, Maybe i'm not looking in the right area. Does anyone know of any good sites about MHD's ?
