Shaving prey?
Throughout my roaming of previous posts, I've seen mention of people shaving their prey before feeding it to their snakes. What is the reasoning behind this??

Only one I can think of is that the fur in never digested, comes right out in the poop. Some people have entirely TOO much time on their hands. Ha ha.....ha!

Yeah Im with Mykee on that one, too much time on thier hands! Man I couldnt imagine shaving rats for my snakes Id have to be smoking something really fancy to go that far.

I've never heard of anyone shaving their prey  Only reason I would ever do that would be to save the hair to scent other feeders with.

I personally think that the fur does a good job at cleaning the digestive track. Like they way we use fiber, animals (such as large predators) use the fur to 'clean their pipes.'

I wouldn't consider shaving a prey animal before feeding it to one of my snakes, that would be totally insane. I just give them a nice little trim

I can't see the point in shaving prey. Nature has equipped reptiles with the ability to consume certain prey items without any side effects. After all, who shaves the retics rabbit in the wild?

Definately did not know about the hair cleaning the digestive tract. Good to know.
Like I don't have enough other stuff to do, I don't wanna shave mice LOL.

here A mouse I just shaved for my corn. Ahot towel shave with a quality straight edge razor works best and I highly recomend Body Shops shaving cream to prevent nicks
