It's hard to tell, they look almost the same. The males tend to have bumpier skin. I believe that only the males call. They are also horny little things and will try to hump a cage mate female or not. The "surprised" party will let out a warning chirp to let the horny one know that it's a male and has made a huge mistake. I have three that live together and I am pretty sure that they are all male.

We suspect that these are eggs, but not sure. We had a hard time getting a pic, hopefully it helps. There is little black dots in that film like stuff.

Sorry to say, I think that what you have is a shed skin. I made the same mistake last summer. I did all this work separating it, new housing and everything. I kept it for awhile - thinking that they were eggs and when I didn't see any eggs hatch in the said time - I reluctantly got rid of them. I just figured that they weren't fertile. About a month later, I witnessed one of them shedding and what was left behind - looked just like yours. See the little projections in the front, thats where the feet were. My husband had a really good laugh. From what I can see, that is what you have. I hadn't witnessed a shedding in the 4 years previous, so I didn't know. It must have always gottem sucked up in the filter. They were all adults when I got them, so maybe they don't shed as much.

Hi, I wondered as well. I couldn't find any pics but some discriptions. http://www.livingunderworld.org/ is a good source of information. Click on Anura, then species database entries and then Bombina orientalis(scientific name). This is a great source of information on amphibians.
