That's awesome. I sometimes get lucky when buying live breeders from the pet store....two years ago I got two female brown mice in a group....both females went on to produce 20+ pinks in almost every single litter. Their daughters didnt seem to pick up the trait though and had normal 8-15 pinks.
All the 20+ litters that I let live to adulthood lived. But that's only two or three litters, and each time there were two-three mothers per cage so they probably all helped out. I have no idea how many would live with only one mother. but maybe all of them in some cases I'm sure.
Originally posted by Neo i dont get how they fit all those babies in their wombs!!congrats on the pinkies. i'm sure there lives will be full of purpose and meaning
The mice usually get a little larger (by weight) than normal mice. Also, it should be noted that the pinks from huge litters are smaller than from regular litters. We usually give these pinks an extra day to grow before euthanizing them.

Not all the babies from big litters (speaking for mine feeders) make it (cause i leave just 3 to milk the mother) all the others are going for food.
