heating an incubator

hey

what are some laternate ways for heating an incubator besides using a heat pad 24/7. My dad doesnt think its a good idea becasue of fire hazards. So what other type of heat could i use for heating an incubator (being kept on all the time)

I would let your dad read some of the incubation related posts so that he may be able to feel a bit better on the idea. The only way to incubate is to provide the constant temp that is needed, and that means a heat sourse on about 24/7. There are several methods to heat an incubator. I would look around and decide which way is best for you and your situation. Otherwise, may need to wait on breeding until your out of your Fathers house....(I know it sucks)

C.m.pyrrhus i have tried that before but he said he doesnt care what other people think or do. He doesnt want me to use a heat pad. So if someone could show some information or something on how they are good to have on all the time or something that would be great

Use a cooler with water in the bottom and then put a fish heater in it and two bricks were you would put the incubating box.

need 2 identical rubber mades. fill one 5 inches or so of water maybe a bit more or less dependign on container. then get a a aqurium heater and put it in the water. might need 2 dependign on size. and make sure it isnt touchign the sides or float or teh top part with teh wire. then put the other rubbermade ontop tape them together so they dotn move. wait for temp to stablize. tada.

ill get a link so u can see it. kidna bad explaination

how about an undertank heater? of course you still need a thermostat.

That's what you need is a thermostat. If you use the right building materials (ie the ones that retain heat well) plus the thermostat the heat source you use won't need to be on constantly, only intermittently when there is some heat lost.

incubation with out pad

I have more then 6 types of eggs incubating in a styro cooler with a large jug full of water ith two aquarirum heater. this keeps pifect moister within thew cooler yoiu can moderate it by buying a hygrow meter and temp gauge. you can also buy a digital thremometor that comes out of the tank for very accurate readings.

only hi9nts wipe the lid down every couple days to stop to much water building and refuill the water in thwe jar becuase it evaporates and if it gets to low the temp rises faster

ill try to get picture of my incubator which has perfected this way of heating becuase you may need different temp with in the tank/coller/fridge/freezer, for different types of eggs
(pending how big you need it)

an alternate method would be to use an aquarium heater. they just float in water 24 7 any ways and i think some have built in thermostats.

If he doesn't want you to build your own. See what he says about getting a hovabator.
