To play God; to be in control of a living thing, to do everything you can to ensure that a head comes out of the egg when it should, to raise it, to keep it healthy and as happy as a reptile in captivity can be.

It might sound corny but my reason would be to propagate the species. I'm not speaking in regards to Ball Pythons only. I'd like to look back on my life knowing that I helped bring at least one new snake into this world ya know!

Plus I wouldn't want the snakes I have now pass away without leaving a part of themselves (offspring) behind.

Plus it would be thrilling to find out what the offspring will look like. Who knows? Let's find out!

Plus it would be nice to know that, for all the CH or WC snakes I may have or may end up with down the line, I helped produce snakes in captivity and contributed to the CB trade and the whole CB movement .

Plus so I can make a lil money while providing enthusiasts and enthusiasts-in-training with quality animals.

As for my reasons, believe it or not, I actually feel that way.

My goal is to eventually get into the less common varieties of snakes and breed things that not everyone has, but everyone wants.

That's the best way to do it. It's to hard to compete against the people that are working with the most populare species we have because most of them have been doing it for so long and are so reputable that the people in the "know" already know where they are going to buy their balls, boas and colubrids. Name a common snake and you can name a breeder who has the best ones money can buy.
Cheers,
Trevor

Although I haven't bred them yet (hopefully next season if I can round up a big ol' male) I am going to be because I would like to help provide a source for captive balls (and other snakes) to take some pressure off wild populations. Also I will be doing it to gain experience in ball python (and other snakes) husbandry adn also I will be doing it for money so I can acquire new species and last but not least for the thrill of helping bring this beautiful creatures into the world.
