A couple breeding pics

I've been cooling everyone since the first of September, however, this was the first week that I've started putting males in with females. I've been concentrating on getting all my breeder females upto optimum breeding weight while I've been cooling and since most of my balls don't start breeding until Dec-Feb I've been slow to get everyone paired up. This week I was just testing out 4 of my males.....2 of them bred and 2 of them didn't. Next week I'm start pairing everyone up on a more regular basis.

Here are the 2 males that have bred so far:

2001 Red Axanthic male breeding a 2001 Pastel female. My Red Axanthic male wasn't the best of breeder last year but it looks like this year he is ready to breed! This female pastel has not produced for me yet......This isn't the best of pics!

<img src="http://coreywoods.com/Axanthics/RedAxathicxPastel%208765.JPG">

A tail shot.....I love the Red Axanthics! If the female Pastel produces this should produce all "Het" Red Axanthics (Abberant Black Stripes) and half of them will be pastels. The "Het" Red Axanthics are an off colour as well......they are almost the inbetween stage of a Red Axanthic and normal..........

My little Super Pastel male breeding my original WC Black Stripe female. The Black Stripes are a dominant trait that are highly variable. If this female produces all of the offspring will be Pastels and all will have varying degrees of black striping.....most of the black stripes produced look more extreme than their mother......and each generation gets more and more extreme.

This is a male second generation Black Stripe produced from the female pictured above back in 2002.

Enjoy,
Corey

Jennifer,

I have 4 adult female pastels. 3 of them are normal pastels and 1 of them is a 100% het Orange Ghost. All were produced in 2001 and all are between 2000-3000g's. The only pairing of Pastel x Pastel that I will be doing is Pastel 100% Het Orange Ghost x Pastel 100% het Orange Ghost.

I could go ahead and breed my Super Pastel male to my 3 other female Pastels and produce a ton of Supers. However, the remaining 3 female pastels will be bred to my Pied male and Red Axanthic male........So, I'll loose out on producing Super Pastels, however, I think producing Pastel Pieds and Pastel Red Axanthics a couple years down the road justifies it!

Thanks for the kind words,
Corey

So many decisions, but it sounds like you calculated it out on what you want pretty well. Good luck again!

Wow Corey, beautiful pics, good luck this year. Damn that's a big WC black stripe, what does she weigh? The male in that pic looks like a hatchling.

Micheal,

The black stripe female I've had since 1998 and she's produce 3 clutches for me.......She is approximately 3000g's. My super isn't the biggest yearling out their but he's interested in breeding and that's all that counts. If he's not in shed I'll have him out on display along with my Pastel Orange Ghost at the Toronto show on Sunday Nov 23rd.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Corey
