For all you know, the guy in that photo is 4'6".  Still, that is a heckuva ball python.

Hi all –
First time poster here. Cpt_rtc, thanks for finding that neat photo. As far as the snake being a giant, I’d say definitely not, but it’s still a nice one. My reasoning is that I think human torso length is fairly standard unless you have some growth anomaly; it’s our leg length that makes the big difference in our heights. Anyway, the picture looks pretty straightforward. You can take a tape measure to yourself and get a reasonable estimate of the python’s length. I’d say it is a MAXIMUM of 60”, more like 55”, so hardly a record. And I’m guessing 3500-4000 grams. All that is assuming, of course, that the man is not a tiny human. That bulge in the middle looks like a meal. And that snake probably lives in Europe or North America now, don’t you think?
