Damn those snakes are nice. I'd love to have one of those or better yet see one in the wild. Is neccessary to have a permit for those or is it just the Texas indigos that require permits?

If you buy these from someone in NC and live in NC, you don't need a permit, I think it's the same with SC, but if you are purchasing from Georgia and I think Rick said also in Fla, then you have to have a permit to purchase. I imagine you might be lucky enough to buy one from a breeder here and get around permits if you looked. I know Rick said he had two eggs off the Indigos (one of two pairs he has) and that one was dead in the egg and the other died a week later, he's going to try again this coming year. It may have been a stress fluke because as anyone can see, these babies are healthy. If he has any luck, I'm in line and we keep up with the list here, so we can let you know too.

Fla. requires a Federal permit(no problem) and a state permit (big problem) . Most who apply for more than 1 snake ar turned down,and since you can have only 1 ( must be c.b.) no breeding! I'm working on it for the future. I gotta do a little lobbying yet. Can you believe I bred them when I was 9 or 10--before protection? They are very impressive. We nearly loved them to death!(extinction) Habitat destruction/fragmentation does its part in reducing their numbers in the wild also. They (esp. males) require a very large free roaming area. Breed late in the year. Mine from nov.to Feb. if I remember. It WAS a long time ago.

You have to have a CB one but you can't breed it . That makes no sense

I think Aztec Fred raises and possibly breeds these in California. I would love a pair but they are currently more than I have left over for this years purchases.

Big Scott, now you see what we're up against here in FL.! With laws as they are, some would rather "side step" them. I would love to be able to breed them to provide some for zoos, schools, etc. here, but as of now, I can't.Most used in education are "rescued"(???!!!) wild ones. Talk about no sense!
