Humidity for shedding

Hey all

Well my bp is going into shed or the 2nd sinc i have had him. The last shed was very bad. I normal just produce humidity but haveing the waterm bowl over the heatmat but this time i have put 2 water bowls in (both over the heatmat). 1/3 of the front piece of glass has condensation on it. should i try putting a 3rd water bowl in to the viv, making about 2/3 of the front piece of glass ave condensation on it???

what I did to help my bp along was put a damp handtowel in the tank when he started to take the skin off. He climbed right into the towel and came out the next day totally clean. Putting it in there before the shed starts would raise the ambient humidity, too.

I just checked on my bp and he just shed his skin. And it was I one piece.
Shall i keep the glass with 1/3 of condensation on it all the time now or only when shedding is happaning???
I dont have any thing to produce humidity for my bp, but I live in England so its quite humide over here anyway.
So what shall I do???

Well there shouldn't be condensation on it all the time!. Try misting it once or twice a day if you don't think it's humid enough. Try what lilyskip said to....the humidity should be about 50%-60% when not shedding, and about 60%-75% when in shed........I'm glad you got a clean shed......! Hope he keeps it up!

awesome! if he's already shed, then you don't need to worry about making it really humid until the next shed cycle. Do you have a humidity gauge? If not, you should get one. They are pretty inexpensive, and you can get a digital thermometer with probe (for two separate temp readings) and a humidity gauge for about $20 USD.

This is what I do...

When I notice one of my snakes is going to shed, I put in a humid hide. It's just a plastic container with a lid and a hole cut into the side. I put a wet substrate inside (I use sphagnum moss). I place the humid hide on the warm side of the enclosure and the snake usually finds it fairly soon. They will hang out in the humid hide for a while (1-10 days) and then come out looking like new.

This way I don't have to worry about keeping a high humidity during sheds. I mist the enclosures every now and then to provide some ambient humidity.
