The size sounds fine to me. My question is what kind of vents do you have on the cage? If you are using any type of mesh covered opening or a screen top, consider the fact that those little fangs can actually reach your hand if placed on the screen. Just something to think about.
My copperhead started out in a 12 inch neodeshea, but quickly moved up to a custom enclosure (that I built).
