just wondering why discos aren't common food items?

I've been breeding discos and hisser for years now and wondering why everyone perfers crix/worms? I normally have large collections and was tired of gathering large number of insects for instance feeding a savanna nearly 200 super worms instead of a few roaches?roach babies are the size of apple seeds and work great for young reptiles. I save alot of time with roaches and are the staple diet of all my beardies.I was wondering for what reason most people choose crix/mealies because i found crix to be very loud , always excaping and dieing off very fast and one time a bunch of mealies worms got loose and i collected beetles for the next 3 months! I never had any problems with the discos

I hear you! I bred roaches for some time and my herps just loved them. Between phobias and roaches being considered pest species and illegal in many cities they are nowhere near as popular as they should be.

I finally had to stop because the dirt produced by the feeders I was breeding was triggering my asthma so I had to sell my roach, cricket and superworm colonies.

It's probly because people don't want to handle, or look at them.
And there plobly terrified of them getting loose, no one really cares if the crix gets loose

How did your mealies get loose??? They can't climb or jump like crix or roaches, that's one of the things I like about them. I hate crickets... my insectivores get a staple of superworms and get mealies occassionally, as well as silkworms after each expo. I breed my own mealies, and am *trying* to breed my own supers as well. Hehehe... thanks to my cat I have a colony of beetles Damn cat can open latches and got in to the cabinet where my supers are and let loose a few hundred so they have been popping up everywhere
I was considering breeding roaches for a while, but was looking for lobster roaches with no success.
